What your week will look like

Your week

Join us for a jam-packed week of exciting activities at The Big Hope 2!

Day 1

Day oneArriving at Liverpool Hope University, you’ll be welcomed at a lunch and orientation session, where you’ll have chance to meet your fellow delegates. The afternoon will be spent at a special Opening Ceremony celebration held at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, and will be followed by a tour of our inspiring city. Spend the evening getting to know one another over dinner and entertainment.

Day 2 & 3

Day twoAfter breakfast, settle in for the first Keynote Lecture of the day, led by one of our esteemed guest speakers. Issues addressed in the Keynote Lectures will inspire a series of Discussion Panels, where you will have the opportunity to debate global themes with a panel of experts. A second Keynote Lecture and the chance to take part in an interactive Learning Track session will follow lunch. Choose to explore a new skill – everything from creative writing to augmented reality – that you will expand and develop as part of a week-long project. As the day draws to a close, there’s time to discuss the day’s learnings with fellow delegates before dinner. Round off the day at one of the social events taking place on campus.

Day 4

Day 4The day will be spent working on your Learning Track project, expanding the work you’ve done so far in preparation for the final exhibition. We hope to see the discovery of practical outputs that you can take forward to help people across the globe. The evening will see the opportunity to chat with fellow delegates at a Reflection Session, over dinner or during a social event. It might be watching your favourite player in our World Cup fan zone or testing your knowledge with a quiz.

Day 5

Day 5Today is your chance to explore the City and local region, or head further afield and visit some of the UK’s most-loved tourist destinations. Day trips will range from local activities such as exploring Liverpool’s array of galleries and museums, to visits to other cities such as Chester and York. Spend the evening relaxing with one of the films that will be shown each night, or maybe get on stage for our Open Mic night.

Day 6

Day 6Following the same format as days two and three, you will again have the chance to hear from two keynote speakers, be invited to join a Panel Discussion on the day’s hot topics, work on the final stages of your Learning Track project, and have the opportunity to spend time reflecting with your fellow delegates. The highlight of the day will be the Big Hope 2 Concert, where artistic performances created during some of the week’s Learning Tracks will be showcased alongside professional performers.

Day 7

Day 7Start the day with the final Keynote Lecture of the conference, before exploring the creative talent of your fellow delegates at a special exhibition looking back on some of the week’s highlights. There will be a celebratory atmosphere throughout the day, as we mark the end of the conference at a Closing Ceremony in the City’s Metropolitan Cathedral. Back at Hope Park, a farewell event will be followed by dinner and the chance to reflect on your experience at the Big Hope 2.

Day 8

Day 8It's time to wave goodbye to a week of enriching and enlightening learning as the Big Hope 2 comes to an end and you head back home. We hope you will leave with fond memories of your visit and will be full of ideas for a bright future.
