In 2008, Liverpool Hope University hosted ‘The Big Hope Global Youth Congress’ - the University’s celebration of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture. International delegates enjoyed a programme of inspirational keynote lectures, events and activities across the City.
One of the lasting outcomes of The Big Hope was the signing of the Liverpool Declaration in which we made a commitment to reprise The Big Hope in 2018. 10 years after the first event, we will recognise the successes and achievements of the original participants, and involve and inspire a new generation of young people.
The Big Hope 2 aims to bring 1,000 young people together to hear from a range of speakers, to be part of powerful discussions and meaningful conversations on a range of themes, and to inspire them to become leaders in a changing world. Some fo the key issues explored will be freedom, conflict, equality and change. These four issues will form the four pillars of the conference. Workshops, seminars and keynote speeches will focus on the relationships between these issues and factors such as innovation, communication, work and business, and faith. You can see all 12 themes on the Themes page.
The Big Hope 2 is brought to you by Liverpool Hope University. Liverpool Hope is a top 3 UK university for Teaching Quality and ranked top 5 of all modern universities in the UK by The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
